RangeGuessr is designed to respect your privacy. We do not store accounts, ask for personal information, and all of your data is stored on your device.
What Is Stored on Your Device
Your game history, scores, and streak are saved in your browser's local storage. None of this information is transferred to us, and is used solely to display this information to you. If you clear your browser data, your progress will be reset.
Analytics
Currently, RangeGuessr collects zero data for analytics. I have been considering creating an animal tracker in the game that will track how many times each animal has been played. If I add this in, there will be an announcement on the site and the only data collected would be anonymized counts of how many times an animal is played across the website.
Advertising
RangeGuessr displays a custom banner ad at the bottom of the page. This ad will be used to highlight conservation and wildlife related groups and products. This is the only ad that will be displayed on the website.
Cookies
Because the game uses local storage, it does not use tracking cookies.
Age Suitability
RangeGuessr is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
External Links
The game does have links to outside sources, such as the GBIF, IUCN Red List, and conservation organizations. These sites have their own privacy policies which we do not control.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Continued use of the game after an update means you accept the revised policy.
